What Can Reading Remedy Do For A Struggling Child?

READING REMEDY'S goal is to transform a struggling student into a confident and successful learner.  This is done through professional, individualized instruction and effective materials in a pleasant, caring environment.

Who am I and why did I open this center? 

I am a dyslexia consultant, tutor and evaluator.  As a teacher with over 8 years' experience in the classroom, I hold licenses to teach special education with a certification in learning disabilities as well as a Master's degree in Counseling.  I have completed another masters degree in Dyslexia Therapy.  I have experience working in all of my licensure areas. 

Reading Remedy is qualified to evaluate dyslexia and provide a report for parents. By opening this center and hiring additional staff, we have increased the number of people we are able to assist with dyslexia, comprehension and other reading issues. We also have help for children, adolescents or adults with ADHD management through Islands Counseling.  You can contact us for an appointment at 228-324-3244  or marbarks@cableone.net. 
 
We use a one-on-one Orton-Gillingham based system that is scientifically researched  and will greatly improve the spelling, reading, and writing skills of children, teenagers or adults who struggle due to dyslexia or a reading disability.  You can change their entire future by teaching them to read, write, and spell. 
 
Dyslexia is condition, which is inherited that makes it extremely difficult to read, write and spell despite having at least average intelligence.
If your child struggles with ADHD, we have help for you.  We will offer an 8 week course available for PARENTS AND STUDENTS OVER 10. This program can eliminate many of the struggles which accompany ADHD - HYPERACTIVE or INATTENTIVE TYPE.  It focuses on time management and organization in a way that the child can put to use in his/her everyday life.  This program is fun and nonthreatening.  Please call for information.
